This pewter belt tongue is a replica of a 14th century original excavated in York, England. Belt tongues like this were used all over Europe. This pewter belt tongue is made in the Gothic style. Pewter was relatively cheap during the Middle Ages, so lower classes in society could also afford to buy pewter belt fittings and other decorations.
