In 1849, this type of knife was the first officially designed and purchased by the United States Army. The knife is a perfect weapon to use alongside a saber, machete or rifle. It is hand-forged from 1085 high carbon steel with a sturdy brass cross-guard and a beautiful handle made of Malaysian wood. The knife is delivered including a handmade leather sheath with belt loop and brass fittings. A great asset for reenactors, history buffs and collectors._x000D_
