Product description

A beautiful replica sword by Windlass Steelcrafts, based on sabers used during the American Civil War. Soldiers fought with these sabers during battles like Antietam, Manassas and Gettysburg. The American Civil War took place between 1861 and 1865 and was fought between the Southern States (Confederation) and Northern States. This saber is based on historical sabers used by the Union army, or the Northern states. This type of saber is originally from France and was shipped from Europe to America. It is delivered including a steel scabbard. The semi-sharp flexible blade is forged from tempered 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Sharpening service

This item is semi-sharp and designed for decorative purposes. It can be made razor sharp at a surcharge. When using the sharpening service, the return right and warranty expires. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Blunting service

The blade of this sword can be blunted (2,5-3 mm) at a surcharge. Please note: although the thickness will be the same as a battle-ready sword, the return right and warranty expires when using the blunting service. Please contact us if you wish to use the blunting service, or make a note at the last step of your shopping cart. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
