The chastity belt was worn by women, mainly to protect them from rapists. Women wore chastity belts during travel to protect them from robbers that could rape them. Sometimes women were forced to wear a chastity belt when they were engaged to prevent adultery in in order to preserve their virginity. A modern myth is that knights forced their wives to wear a chastity belt when they went on a crusade or campaign. However the oldest chastity belts are from the 15th century and there is no single proof of the use of chastity belts before this period. During the period in which the chastity belt was used the women rights were also strongly reduced by the church. This chastity belt is a fully functioning replica. It has a padlock that can be locked. Don’t lose the key!
