The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, better known as the Templars, was a clerical knight order that was founded in 1096, at the end of the First Crusade, to guarantee all pilgrims a safe journey to Jerusalem. The Knight Templars were the best trained soldiers of the crusades and the non-fighting members of the order founded an enormous banking system all over Europe and built massive forts.
This decorative templar sword has a carbon steel blade with a fuller. The grip is made of wood and covered with braided leather. The sword has a massive cross-guard and an octagonal pommel of brass. The sword has a length of 94 cm with a blade of 75 cm and a max width of 4,4 cm. It weighs 1,4 kg.
Hughes de Payens was one of the founders of the Knight Templars and its first grand master. Together with Bernard of Clairvaux he composed the rules of the order and led it for twenty years, until his death in 1136.

For the price, it is very good. The aesthetic is pleasent and the scabbard is nively done, as is the grip. The blade I recieved was slightly bent to one side, but I only noticed when I looked down the blade and it was very slight in nature. I don't plan to be doing much cutting anyway so it isn't too much of an issue. The brass on the cross guard has small cuts in random places, but again they are barely noticible and could easily be put down to battle damage. The fuller was also slightly off at some points. It is worth noting that the balance is relatively far from the guard, so it is better for cutting but less nimble.
All in all, as a first sword its great, it'll look good on your wall, and the steel is good enough that it certainly has some decent cutting capacity, though obviously if you're looking for a fully functional sword then probably look a little higher in price.
