Product description

This belt fitting is a replica of a 9th-10th century original. It can be used for decorating leather items like belts and bags. This belt fitting measures 1,8 x 1,7 cm and is perfectly suited for a belt strap with a width of 2 cm. It is bronze coloured.

The historical original of this replica was excavated as part of the ship-burial of Borre, Vestfold, Norway. The fitting shows a backward-looking animal in profile, which was much less common than the gripping-beasts en face. The body of the animal is arranged to fill all the available space.
