We sell rolls and sheets of papyrus for Roman reenactment, museums, and art projects. Our papyrus is made in Egypt and looks beautifully authentic. Papyrus was extensively used in Classical Antiquity. It is made from the Egyptian papyrus plant: strips of the plant are cut into strips and glued horizontally and vertically over each other. Papyrus is a material that quickly deteriorates in humid climates. One of the largest papyrus discoveries comes from the desert: the Dead Sea Scrolls. The desert is the perfect storage place for papyrus. Our papyrus is suitable for writing with, for example, a calamus or calligraphy pen.

    Buy sheets of parchment

Parchment is made from animal skin. Historically, it was already a more expensive material than papyrus. It has been used since Classical Antiquity for writing. Many people think that medieval people slaughtered entire herds of cows to make a prayer book. This is not true. It did require an entire herd, but they used animals that had already been slaughtered for meat consumption. Our parchment is made from sheepskin. The most expensive manuscripts in the Middle Ages were made from lambskin. It took a long time to gather such a manuscript. Our parchment sheets are suitable for writing and painting. Ideal if you want to create a medieval miniature or write with a calligraphy pen.
