Product description
The sgian dubh features a small wooden handle. The name sgian dubh means: black knife. This knife was worn principally in the sleeve during the 17th and 18th centuries. It was an old custom that when a highlander entered a house he did not bring a sword. However, in the event of an attack or a fight, he would conceal a sgian dubh in his sock. Should a fight break out within the house, he could employ the knife to defend himself. Following Culloden, the soldiers of the Black Watch regiment wore this dagger in their sock as a matter of course. The knife has a total length of 20 cm, with a blade of 10 cm.
