The children's surcoat is particularly well-suited to any boy or girl who wishes to dress up as a knight for LARP, re-enactment or a festival.
Originally, surcoats were developed during the First Crusade, where knights were exposed to enormous heat and dust for prolonged periods. The surcoat prevented the metal beneath from becoming particularly hot. These surcoats were later employed throughout Europe, where they symbolised the identity of the knight and knighthood. The surcoat was also utilised in battle to distinguish between different parties and families.
The surcoat features a mi-parti pattern. Crafted from sturdy cotton, it falls straight and has splits at the sides from the waist for added wearing comfort. It may be combined with a belt.
