Product description

This sword is a replica of original examples from the first half of the 10th century and is classified as a Petersen Type P. At the time these swords were in use, the Vikings were establishing permanent settlements in northern England, founding the Danelaw. It was a period of major Viking expansions, during which Dublin and other settlements around the Irish Sea were established. In 872 AD, Harald Fairhair unified Norway, and between 958 and 987 AD, Harald Bluetooth united Denmark. The organization of both kingdoms was modeled after the structures of the Franks and Anglo-Saxons.
