A doublet is a closely fitting coat worn by men from the late Middle Ages to the seventeenth century. The doublet originated in Spain and spread over the rest of the west of Europe. The doublet was developed from body protection such as gambesons and acketons.
The doublet is crafted from a wool mix and is well-suited to wearing over a shirt and trousers. It has laces with brass lace ends to close the doublet at the front. The sleeves are also fastened with laces and these may likewise be detached during warm days.
