The jewel is a replica of a 6th–7th century Merovingian original excavated in Faversham, Kent (England). This handmade piece is crafted from enamel. The original is nowadays part of the collection of the British Museum in London. Jewellery of this kind was worn principally between the 6th and 8th century by Frankish tribes such as the Merovingians, as well as by the Anglo-Saxons.
