Product description
The Pannonian hat (pileus pannonicus) was a cylindrical, flatly finished headgear made of felt, fur or leather. From the late 3rd century onwards, this type of headgear was worn by the Roman army and remained in use until the 6th century. It was worn by, among others, lightly armed and non-commissioned soldiers and by workers. Later, the hat remained popular in Europe and appears in the clothing of Gauls and Franks, and during the Merovingian and Carolingian periods.
The hat is made from 100% wool felt in the colour brown and can be cut, bent, wetted and shaped with an iron to the desired form. The hat also remains wearable unchanged in its round basic shape with high brim.
Suitable for re-enactment, LARP and cosplay, and to be worn as a costume accessory in daily use.
