Product description
The Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471 was a decisive battle during the Wars of the Roses. The Wars of the Roses took place between 1455 and 1485, and comprised a series of battles for the English crown fought between the houses of Lancaster and York. Both families were members of the ruling English dynasty, the Plantagenets. The war is named after the emblem of both families: a red rose for the Lancasters and a white rose for the Yorkists. Tragically, it was precisely this conflict that caused the dynasty to end. After the war, the Tudors became England's ruling family.
The sword is a replica based on originals employed during the Battle of Tewkesbury. This one-and-a-half sword, or bastard sword, is crafted from tempered EN45 spring steel. The pommel is screwed and the grip consists of a wooden core wrapped in black leather. It has a cross-guard with cross-shaped motifs and a scent-stopper pommel, also with a cross motif. The cross-guard is approximately 23 cm long and 0.5 cm thick. The sword is dispatched including a wooden scabbard covered with black leather. The scabbard has steel tips.
