Product description
The Alemannic belt fitting is based on originals excavated at the Niederstotzingen burial (Germany). Fittings of this kind were worn by all Germanic and Merovingian tribes around the 6th century AD. The fitting was excavated in grave 9, a male grave.
This fitting is well-suited to belts with a width of up to 2 cm. It measures 6 x 2 cm.
The graves of the South German town of Niederstotzingen contained many luxurious burial gifts. Amongst the items found alongside this belt fitting were a sword, seax, shield edge, shield boss, lance, needles, knife, scissors and silver horse reigns.
