Product description
The aluminium hauberk has been designed for long-term wearing. Crafted from lightweight aluminium and fully riveted, it presents a lifelike appearance, yet is considerably lighter and cannot withstand blows from steel weapons. The hauberk is constructed to the sizes of the average adult and may be worn with or without a gambeson.
Short chainmail shirts such as these were worn by Vikings and others during the early Middle Ages. They remained in use until the 11th century and made a comeback in the second half of the 14th century. From that period, such short chainmail shirts became known as haubergeons — a diminutive of hauberk, or long chainmail shirt. Haubergeons offer optimal protection and greater freedom of movement than the hauberk, and were therefore well-suited to wearing beneath armour.
Armour parts may be readily attached to the shoulders and arms of the haubergeon with leather laces.
