This large pendant is modeled on an Anglo-Saxon disc fibula from the 9th century, with a broken, cross-shaped design in the so-called Trewhiddle style of the Elmsett type. The historic original is in the British Museum.

The original was once manufactured from silver with niello inlay and consists of two crosses with hollow arms, which together form an eight-armed star-shaped motif, decorated with tendrils and leaves. The fields between the arms show broken, stylized animal figures in the characteristic late Anglo-Saxon Trewhiddle style, with the heads pointing downwards and towards the centre. Of this Elmsett type, 15 early medieval fibulae are currently known, of which 12 are from silver and 3 in gold-plated copper alloy.
