Product description
The beautiful decorative sword is a fine asset for lovers of early medieval swords! The sword is an exact replica of an original from the 8th century that was excavated at Fetter Lane in London. In 1893 it was donated to the British Museum, where it remains on display for all to admire. The original grip is crafted from gold-plated silver and has remained very much intact. Owing to the expensive precious metal and the craftsmanship involved in the manufacture of this sword, archaeologists suspect that it was owned by an elite warrior or nobleman. The blade of the original has not been preserved, so for this replica a frequently occurring type of early medieval blade with a wide fuller was chosen. The grip of the replica is constructed from tinned bronze, which approaches the appearance of the silver original whilst keeping the price lower. Just as with the original, the grip is assembled from various parts that are riveted together. The grip and pommel are decorated with excellent early medieval organic motifs. The sword is supplied with a brown leather scabbard with tinned bronze fittings and a belt loop, permitting you to hang it on your belt.
