Product description
This breastplate is loosely based on a cuirass from the armory of Churburg Castle (Italy) and reflects the transitional style between the earlier coat-of-plates and the fully developed cuirasses of the 15th century. The convex (globose) profile distributes and resists impacts effectively, while the one-piece design provides extra strength. Breastplates of this type originated in northern Italy in the late 14th century and were popular for their durability, both in tournaments and on the battlefield.
This breastplate is made from steel, 1.6mm, with adjustable leather straps for a fit over a padded gambeson or chain mail shirt. Suitable for re-enactment and HEMA, as a separate breastplate or as part of a complete harness.
