Product description
The bust is a replica of a bust of Emperor Tiberius. The original forms part of the collection of the archaeological museum of Naples. Such statues were often painted to permit them to appear lifelike.
Tiberius Claudius Nero was the second princeps of Rome, as successor of Imperator Caesar Augustus. Despite his illustrious (military) career before he became princeps, he would go down in history as a gloomy and suspicious ruler. This is why he was called tristissimus hominum (the saddest person of all).
The bust is crafted entirely by hand from alabaster and stands 14 cm in height. It is supplied complete with a black pedestal.
