The Calatrava Cross is a distinctive symbol associated with the Order of Calatrava, the Order of Montesa (which employed a black version), and the Order of Preachers. It features a Greek cross with four equal arms, which are red, and adorned with fleur-de-lis.
The cross may be found on various shields and flags of cities linked to Calatrava. Originally, the Calatrava Cross was depicted in black, but by the fifteenth century, it began to be represented in red.
