The jewel is a replica of a 1st century Roman fibula worn by the Gaulish legionaries. It was excavated in South England and is now part of the collection of the British Museum, London.

The jewel was employed by the Romans (presumably the Roman legionaries from Gaul). This fibula is clearly crafted in the Celtic La Tène art style. Similar originals have been excavated in Gaul and were worn by the Gaulish. This motif was originally Gaulish and was later adopted by the Romans.

This brass pendant is shaped like a stylised sea horse. The shapes of this jewel occur frequently in Celtic pottery and engravings from the Middle La Tène period.
It measures 5.5 x 5 cm.
