Chain mail of this type was worn by both 9th-century Vikings and 13th-century crusaders. The chainmail is crafted from flat rings, which are alternately pinched and riveted with round rivets. The rings are constructed from mild steel and are woven together in a 4:1 construction, meaning that 1 ring is attached to 4 other rings. Whilst measuring your size, wear the undergarments you intend to wear beneath the chain mail. Should you wish to wear the chainmail with a gambeson, ensure your gambeson is worn whilst measuring. The chest circumference in the size chart represents the wearer's maximum chest circumference, including undergarments.
