Product description
The chaperon was a gladly worn piece of clothing during the High Middle Ages. It protects the head, neck and shoulders from cold weather and rain. During the High Middle Ages it was worn by all classes of society and was often decorated and worn in bright colours. In the Late Middle Ages, its use became limited to the more common people, who began to wear it in alternative ways. The liripipe, for example, which had formerly hung from the back, was later wrapped around the neck.
