This delicate pendant depicts a crowned heart held by two hands and flowing into a Celtic knot — the well-known Claddagh motif. The heart stands for love, the hands for trust and the crown for loyalty.

Legend has it that the Claddagh, originally in ring shape, was forged in the 17th century by Richard Joyce of the Irish fishing village of Claddagh, after he was kidnapped by pirates. During his captivity he is said to have created the Claddagh to express his longing for his beloved.
