Product description

This coin pendant is based on a find from Birka/Haithabu, 8th century. Coin pendants like these were made from functional coins and behave like amulet for protection, a custom that emerged from the older Germanic tradition of the bracteates. Magical runes were sometimes engraved on the back of such pendants to strengthen the protective power.

Performed in bronze, with a diameter of approx. 2.5 cm.
