This cotehardie is designed with a close fit that follows the body line. While many standard tunics have a loose fit, this model fits well to the body thanks to the fitted cut and full button closure. This means the fabric stays better in place during movement and is less likely to get in the way of someone belt or equipment. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, a cotehardie was usually worn over a shirt or chemise and, depending on the occasion, under a surcotte or cloak.

The heavy velvet gives the material a depth colour and a subtle sheen that changes with the incident light. At the same time, it is a sturdy fabric that retains its shape well. The complete lining of light cotton prevents it velvet sticks to the skin and helps to dissipate heat and moisture better, keeping the cotehardie comfortable even during prolonged wear.

The rows of buttons on the forearms make it possible to close the sleeves tightly around the wrists, so that they do not get in the way during work, fights or other activities. If you wear the buttons looser, you will create a more relaxed appearance.

Velvet requires careful handling. Allow dried mud to dry completely before gently brushing it out and never iron the garment directly onto the fabric.
