This cotehardy is a fundamental one dress with which you have a high- builds up to a late medieval outfit. The kirtle started as a loose garment without a waist seam and grew into a tight, supportive model in the fourteenth century; In the Renaissance the shape was often constructed from a separate fitted bodice with a pleated skirt. This garment uses a lacing system with reinforced eyelets at the front, which allows you to cinch the fabric tightly around the waist and adjust the fit to your own body shape.

While the front closes with laces, the lower sleeves have a row of functional buttons, making them sharply tapered at the wrist. In the Middle Ages, richer kirtles were often embellished with gold, silk, tassels or decorative buttons.
