Product description
The steel replica is crafted after an original from Burgh Castle, Norfolk, England, dating from the 3rd–4th century AD. The later Roman helmet types were no longer based on Celtic designs, but presumably on helmets from the Persian Empire, which was emerging during that period. By around the 2nd century AD, cavalry had become an essential part of the Roman army; whilst it remained a vulnerable unit, one fifth of the army consisted of cavalry.
The cheek plates are fastened with leather straps and the helmet has a leather inlay. The helmet is well-suited to head circumferences up to 62 cm, and its length is 22.5 cm (from nose piece to neck) and 19.7 cm from ear to ear.
