Product description
Scale armour of this type was worn by Roman auxiliae during Antiquity. It was worn principally by the auxiliae of Persian heritage. In Persia, the tradition of wearing scale armour of this kind is older still, and it was employed even before the campaigns of Alexander the Great. In Carnuntum, the capital of the Roman province of Pannonia, more than 30 different variants of this scale armour were excavated. Crafted from brass and based on originals worn around 100–250 AD, the scales are attached to a layer of leather.
