Pretorian helmet, 1.3 mm

Product description

The helmet has been modelled after several originals of a pretorian helmet. The imperial guard was founded in 27 BC by Emperor Augustus. The guard could serve the emperor as a private army, whilst also posing a potential threat to him. The helmet displays obvious Greek influences in its design.

Crafted from high-quality brass, the helmet is richly decorated with motifs from the high emperor period through to the late emperor period. It features a crest of red horsehair. The helmet is well-suited to head circumferences of up to 64 cm; its length is approx. 23.5 cm and it weighs approx. 2.5 kg.
