Product description
Over the centuries, the drinking horn has been employed by different peoples as a cup during ceremonies and celebrations. Its use is even mentioned in the Edda. The horn is particularly well-suited to Viking reenactment, home décor and LARP, and makes a wonderful gift. Crafted from buffalo horn and polished by hand, it comes with a metal stand with which it may be placed upon the table. The horn is inscribed with the Viking god Odin riding his horse Sleipnir — a design taken from an 8th-century stone found on the island of Gotland in Sweden. Visby was a large early medieval Viking town on this island. The stone is on display at the Swedish Historical Museum in Stockholm.
