Over the centuries, the drinking horn has been employed by different peoples as a cup during ceremonies and celebrations. Its use is even mentioned in the Edda. The horn is particularly well-suited to Viking reenactment, home décor, LARP, and makes a wonderful gift. It is also well-suited to festivals. This drinking horn has been crafted by hand from buffalo horn and is polished. A layer of varnish has been applied to the inside so that one may drink from the horn. It comes with a metal stand with which it can be placed on the table. The horn is engraved with a Vegvisir. The Vegvisir is a symbol from the Icelandic Huld manuscript, a 19th-century occult book of spells. Vegvisir means: that which shows the way. Whoever wore this magical symbol would not get lost during a storm. It is not known whether the early medieval Vikings knew this symbol. But in modern Viking culture and amongst neopagans it plays an important role and has been given a new context.
