Product description
These elbow cups would have been worn by the common soldier throughout the 14th and 15th centuries. They provide protection to the vulnerable elbow joint whilst not weighing or costing as much as a full arm harness. The common soldier of this period could not afford a full suit of plate armour, but would still wish to be as protected as their budget permitted. Some armies did have "munitions grade" plate armour which was lent or leased to soldiers and would often be made to fit any size. These elbow cups are crafted from 1.6 mm steel, making them well-suited to reenactment battles. They have been designed to be fitted over a gambeson or mail hauberk.
