Product description
The relief is crafted after an original excavated in Northern France. It is now part of the collection of the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
The relief is a depiction of the sitting Celtic horse goddess Epona. A fruit basket is placed upon her lap. The Celtic goddess Epona was adopted by the Romans following the Gaulish wars and was worshipped in, amongst other places, Roman Gaul.
The relief is constructed from plaster alabaster and measures 30 x 17 x 9 cm. It may stand as a statue, but it also features an eye to allow it to be hung upon a wall.
