Product description
The scales have been crafted to early medieval originals used by early medieval Germanic tribes such as the Lombards. Scale armour of this type was also employed extensively in the Byzantine Empire, notably by the cataphracts, Byzantine heavy cavalry. It is not inconceivable that this type of scale armour, via Byzantium, was also worn by Vikings in the service of the Varangian Guard. With these scales, all types of lamellar armour parts may be assembled yourself. Each parcel contains approximately 100 scales, weighing approx. 1 kg.

Maintenance & Care
Prevent rust by oiling your armour regularly. If necessary, rust may be removed easily with black sandpaper.
Attaching plate armour & maille parts
To keep maille parts or plate armour securely in place, it is best to attach leather laces to your wambuis and fasten them to the armour or maille. The armour will then remain in place whilst fighting.
This armour is 1 mm thick and well-suited to LARP battles, costumes, and cosplay.
Tip: how to adjust the owner's finish and weapons
Luxury (polished) – Polish the steel with a metal polishing agent or toothpaste. Polishing can even improve the appearance of an existing article. Ensure you first test on a small surface!
Handmade (matt) – Place the steel for 40 minutes to 20 hours in cola. Check the matt finish regularly. Equalise the finish with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) – Place the steel for a whilst in a damp environment (preferably outdoors) and allow it to rust. Brush the red rust layer away; the corroded top layer remains.
NB. After completing the product yourself, guarantee and return rights lapse. Celtic Webmerchant is not liable for the application of the aforementioned methods.

1. Cardboard: separate or reuse paper.

3. Paper packaging for jewellery and small items: has a plastic inner layer. Remove this, then separate paper and plastic.
