Germanic scroll fibula, Putensen, bronze

Product description

This one fibula is based on a find from a warrior grave in the Longobardian brandgraber field of Putensen near Hamburg, dating from around 50 AD. The fibula belonged to an approximately 30-year-old Germanic warrior with unusually rich burial equipment, which indicates contacts with the Roman army.

Performed in bronze, with dimensions of 6 x 3.5 x 3 cm. Characteristic of this type are the small, semi-circular caps that cover the needle coil.

Roller cap fibula's of this type were mainly in use in Jutland and northern Germany in the 1st century and did not occur in the Roman provinces themselves. A nice addition to your equipment for re-enactment from early Germanic antiquity.
