Product description
The helmet is based on a late 14th/early 15th century original crafted in Northern Italy. It is an early variant of the great bascinet. The great bascinet offered greater protection to the entire head, the neck and partly the shoulders, and was often combined with the haubergeon, coat of plates and, later, the first types of cuirasses. Whilst the great bascinet evolved into the armet during the first half of the 15th century, it remained popular amongst knights and men-at-arms until the mid 15th century or later.
