Product description
The one-and-a-half sword is a sword that fell in size between a single-handed sword and a two-handed sword. It could be employed with one hand, but a second hand could also be placed on the grip and partly on the pommel for extra power behind a thrust.
The sword is a replica of an Oakeshott type XVII. This type of sword was popular from around 1355 to 1425. During this period the number of foot soldiers and archers in armies increased. The elite, heavily armoured knights wore supplementary pieces as extra protection against foot soldiers and archers. As a result, the swords produced during this period were designed for thrusting between the armour plates. During this period, weapons such as the warhammer and the mace were also brought into use — weapons that could severely damage armour.
The sword is crafted from high-quality carbon steel with a hardness of 50–55 HRC. It has a black leather grip and a sharp blade and tip. It is supplied with a black scabbard with steel fittings.
