The bell is hand-forged after historical originals. Bells of this kind were used from the Middle Ages to around the eighteenth century. The bell is a smaller design of approx. 12 cm. Whilst bells are mainly associated with church bells, smaller bells such as this were hung behind the door in a shop to hear people coming in. Bells were also employed to keep order — for example in the classroom. A fine addition to your historic interior, well-suited to museums and re-enactors.
The bell is fitted with a ring at the top, so it may be hung with a cord and will make a sound when swinging back and forth.
