Product description
The rapier has been designed for HEMA, historical European Martial arts. The rapier, a slender and pointed type of sword, originated in 16th-century Europe and reached its peak during the Renaissance. This elegant weapon was often the choice of noblemen and became known for its agility and precision in the era of duelling and sword fighting. Compared to swords from earlier periods, the rapier features a hilt with finger rings and a knuckle guard, which makes combat with the rapier quite different from combat with the federschwert. The rapier is fitted with a blade of medium flexibility. This is the most common type of blade employed in HEMA tournaments. The blade can withstand a maximum pressure of 11 to 12 kg. This pressure is considered safe at most HEMA tournaments. The tip has a thickening for extra safety.
