The Red Dragon HEMA Sparring Jacket has been designed specifically for HEMA and is crafted from heavy-duty cotton with a 350N rating, featuring an inner lining. The jacket is well-padded to absorb strikes, though it lacks padding on the back, as effective blows there are extremely rare. This results in reduced weight and improved breathability. The front panel with a zip overlaps to provide a double layer of protection against thrusts to the torso. The jacket also includes an innovative built-in gorget, designed to overlap the bib of a fencing mask to prevent thrusts from travelling upward from beneath the bib. The gorget features a padded plastic plate to protect the throat, along with adjustable Velcro straps that permit it to be attached either at the back of the collar or at the back of the shoulders. The gorget may also be worn under the bib of the mask if desired. The back of the jacket features an adjustable webbing strap with Velcro attachment, allowing it to be tightened at the waist for a more streamlined fit.
