Historical drinking bowl (greenware)

Product description

The bowl is entirely handmade from ochery clay and glazed in the historical manner with a green colour. It was heated in the kiln to a temperature of 1,200°C. It is well-suited to use in the dishwasher and may be employed for hot liquids as well. Its height is approx. 7 cm with a diameter of approx. 10 cm.

Greenware is pottery with a green glazed layer applied to the complete surface or parts thereof. This type of pottery was already in use around the 13th century, principally on the British Isles. In the 14th century, 10 to 20% of all the pottery utilised in London consisted of greenware. On the mainland of Europe, greenware's popularity increased from the 15th century onward.
