The lock is a replica of a 15th-century original found in London. It is now part of the collection of the Museum of London. Locks of this kind were employed throughout Europe between the 14th and 16th centuries.
Constructed from iron, the lock is completely functional and can be closed with ease. It measures 15 cm in length and weighs approximately 0.8 kg.
