In Germanic and Celtic (Gaulish) culture, torques were an absolute status symbol. Crafted from noble metals as well as iron, they carried considerable prestige. The iron torque is a replica of an original from the 1st century BC that was excavated in Gaul. It is well-suited to a neck circumference of 54 cm and has a diameter of 16–20 cm.
