The medieval sword is a replica of an original from the 13th century. The original sword is typed as an Oakeshott Type XII and is displayed in the St. Annen-Museum, Lübeck. The sword is quite long for a Type XII single-handed sword, and swords of this type were employed by the Crusaders during the High Middle Ages. The blade of this replica sword is crafted from EN45 spring steel and features a riveted pommel. The grip is constructed with a steel cross-guard, a wooden core, and red leather wrapping. The sword is supplied with a red leather scabbard.
