Product description
The historical headscarf base is inspired by depictions of originals found in medieval illuminated manuscripts and on stained-glass windows. The headpiece serves as a base to be worn beneath a larger headscarf. With this base, a woman would keep her hair in place, whilst the larger headscarf covered the rest. Headscarves were worn throughout history by married women, as the garment served as a status symbol. It is only in modern times that the wearing of headscarves by women in the West has fallen out of use. A fine accessory for historical reenactment of various periods.
