The trousers are crafted in the style worn by the German landsknechts. These fearsome mercenaries consisted mainly of pikemen and infantry and formed one of the most essential military powers of 15th–16th century Europe.
The landsknechts were renowned for their colourful clothing, and the legs are constructed in this tradition. They feature contrasting inlays and may be fastened with three buttons at the ankle.
