Product description
A highly detailed relief of a lararium (house altar) excavated in Pompeii at the house of the Vetti. The relief measures 30 x 28 cm and is provided with a hook for hanging it to the wall.
The Romans not only painted miniature lararia on their walls, but also house altars in the most radiant colours. This lararium is a replica of an original fresco excavated in Pompeii, and is well-suited to do-it-yourself painting in whichever colours you prefer. The original was also polychrome.
The house of the Vetti is the most famous luxurious residence of Pompeii. The house is named after the owner Aulus Vettius Conviva, a freed slave who had built up a luxurious and successful life in the city of Pompeii.
