Product description
The hood is based on originals from the late Middle Ages, as depicted in various illuminated manuscripts. It ends in a long tail, also known as a liripipe. The hood was worn primarily by the lower classes of society and served as a practical head covering, offering protection against the cold and other weather conditions whilst working in the fields and during similar activities. Wealthy people, however, also wore hoods, which were more richly decorated and crafted in colours such as blue and red. The bottom of the hood is decorated with late medieval motifs that may also be observed in architectural ornaments. Particularly well-suited to late medieval reenactment and historical clothing.
